Tis the season!

I'm going to be off and about my life,

{blogless} for the next month.

I HAVE: a husband who just finished taking his last school-final this morning, and two very adorable attention needing kiddos.

Our time off will consist of snuggles, hot chocolate, fuzzy slippers, picture taking, road trips, sippy cups, movie nights, remembering Christ, snowsuits, holding hands, family prayers, guacamole, reading material, and made up bedtime stories.

Guest Blogging {Shutters}

Dear Santa, Can I have assorted colors of Spray Paint in my stocking this year? Great. Thanks.

Hey everyone! Here's a fun quick piece of DECOR that is MUCH TOO FABULOUS!

I bought 4 very tall and large window shutters all for $8 at a yard sale this past summer. I ended up cutting them all in half making it $1 a piece!

I've transformed all but 3 of the 8 so far. Quick and simple! I take a can of spray paint (for the "undertone") and spray the edges where I know I'll sand it down the most so it will show through the top coat. {LET DRY}. Then I spray paint the WHOLE thing the color of my choice!

Such as a BLACK shutter with a RED undertone, or a RED shutter with a MUSTARD YELLOW undertone etc...

Then I took a drill and topped off my shutters with 3 hooks...

My living room was missing something...and this IVY LEAF GREEN with BLACK undertone shutter has completely won my heart!

Vintagey Ivory Hair Flowers{RUFFLES INCLUDED}

What if we include some RUFFLES?

That's what I thought. (I bought a bed skirt at a yard sale for a quarter because I loved the fabric. So I cut it up).
I cut pedal shapes, no rhythm or reason as you can clearly see below. I literally hacked away at it.
Hot glued the centers (very very lightly or your center will get too stiff to shape. You could sew, but I'm ALL about no-sew, even if it intels glue burns.)
I did the same thing to an ivory colored lace that I had.

And glued 5 more pedals on top.

I placed a bead in the center and put the thinnest ring of hot glue around the whole base of the bead. Like so...

Then start pinching. I ended up shaping and pinching with both hands to give the flower a shape.


Then put a tinsy dot of glue for the stragly back pedals.

Isn't she lovely?
She goes GREAT with ANY UPDO!
Then I got to thinking...What if I made a smaller version for a headband?
like so...

(I just cut out a circle of lace about the size of my palm and then pinched it all up with glue) and THEN added the pearls.

But it was missing something...

something...frilly.

something...feminine.

something...ruffely.

I grabbed a shiny brown 1/2" ribbon and glued it on the edge of the headband. I glued it first on the inside of the headband and wrapped it around the edge and glued it on the otherside. This is on the opposite side of the headband that the flowers are on.

Then we start loop-de-looing...
The arrows indicate where to put the glue. Put it lower than you think so that you can adjust the loop to the size you want. You'll understand once you start.

(sorry about chipped nail polish...a couple posts ago I noticed I REALLY needed to color my hair, so I did it the next day...now I'm going to go give myself a manicure...)

I stopped once I got to the flowers and didn't do the other end.

GIVE YOURSELF A MAKEOVER!

Everyone gets stuck in a rut. Whether you'll admit it or not. (I SURE ADMIT IT! I just got OUT of one). It happens and we dont notice. Some things worse than others. But our LOOKS can get stuck in a rut while years pass. Here's some tips to check up on and make you look 5 years younger!

1: Give your face an uplift with CONCEALER! Dab it on your under eye circles of coarse, but dont stop there! Dont forget the outer corners of the eye, the outer sides of the nostrils, and both ends of your lips! Brighten it up!

2: Hair Color can be drastic, but we'll leave the over doing it to Lady GaGa. Keep with simple and Natural. To much bleach takes away the natural golden hughs in your hair. Too dark can make you look Haggard. (That's a harsh word, I know). Keep it natural!

3: BE PRESICE! The wrong foundation color can age you more years than you think! Find the right color! Even if you have to, set up a consultation with a beautitcian to help you pick the right shade!
AND Get a PROFESSIONAL BRA FITTING! forget the numbers and letters and get the right size! The proper lift slenders your waist and makes you look younger!


4: Everyone gets in a BAD Hair STYLE/CUT rut! So many people dont like CHANGE. Can I tell you something?...Change is OH SO GOOD! No, there's no need to rush into anything. Study and talk it out and figure out the best hair cut for your face! I've posted a previous hair cutting tip HERE.

5: FASHION! There's no need to dress like a teenager to feel young. But theres so many fun and flattering tips that can help you spice DOWN your age quickly!
1-A single bold print. A dress, a blouse a skirt!
2-A pop of Color, Purse, shoes, scarf!
3-Topping off your attire with a cardigan sweater pulls any outfit together!
4-A casual dress! Everyone needs a casual dress! Although I wouldn't dress it up like the above picture, I'd go for flats and a ponytail or natural waves.
5-Ruffles! I hope they NEVER go out of style! They're vintagey and feminine!
6-Flats are flirty! With a dress, jeans, capris! You cant go wrong!
No matter your age, adding just a tiny bit of spice will dock your years down for ya!
