Year Round Wreath!

Can it get any better than 1 wreath all year?

Let me show you my excitement through a 40 photo tutorial and why it gets to stay up ALL YEAR.

Because it's SO WORTH IT.

Let's begin already!

I took a file folder and cut out a desired petal shape.

(I have pretty big hands and chipped nail polish so here's a comparison)

Trace it and cut it out again so you have two.

Then take one and trim 1/2" all the way around it so you now have a smaller one.

With the larger petal, trace onto burlap.

(For a full year, you'll need 64-72, you'll see why soon.)

I got a 1/4 yard of the greenish burlap and cut out leaf shapes.

(40-64 leaves)

With your smaller petal shape (from your file folder) cut out your assorted fabric of choice

Then hot glue the assorted fabric petals onto the burlap ones. I glue half at a time like so...

So far...so cute.

(and not TOO many glue burns yet)

Keep going!

Now take your wreath and lay a strip of burlap (that curves with the wreath and takes up about a forth of the wreath...like the picture below) but just lay it there dont glue it down or anything. The burlap is to glue the petals onto and to still have a visual of the wreath. (DO NOT GLUE THE PETALS ONTO YOUR WREATH...just the burlap strip)

Notice how I've taken each petal (below) and glued it about one inch shut to create a better petal shape. You'll want this done to all your petals before we start glueing it to the burlap strip.

NOW: Glue your first petal here:

Then two more here:

Then one more here:

Then center this one here:

Then add two upside down onto the last one:

Then add one in that gap to the left:

There should be 8 full petals now

IMPORTANT: Glue bottom, sides edges, wherever they touch anything else, GLUE IT! (Or your petals will wilt out doors). They need to be secure.

Now add RIBBON!

I didn't tie any ribbon bows(although it looks like it below), I just made loops and glued them and made strips with the two pointed edge and glued it. I never tied a whole bow (to save ribbon)

Shape/glue your leaves.

Then place them in any gaps. (I would add 5-8 leaves, which is why the # can depend on you. Please notice the dried hot glue on my thumb point.)

Now cut 64-72 3" wires.

Take some twine and glue/wrap it around a few times

(add glue...wrap. Repeat)

Then glue/twist it down the wire

Dont worry about covering the last half inch with twine because you wont see it.

Keep going!

Now glue our new stems into the center of each petal

To create LILIES!

Glue thick velcro onto the wreath (where the burlap strip would lay, but maybe a touch shorter so the velcro doesn't ever show through. (also, put the rough sided velcro onto the wreath)

UPDATE: I Gorilla glued the velcro on!

Why add velcro?

Well, that's the fun part!...you'll see.

Add a ribbon to hang the wreath.

I sewed two strips of burlap ribbon and one strip of lace together to create a gorgeous thick ribbon!

Add three 2"squares of the soft sided velcro onto the back of our beautiful burlap lily creation

(add the squares to the top, middle and bottom)

UPDATE: I Gorilla Glued these on too!

And then velcro it on the wreath of coarse!

SO WORTH IT!

(Now, I ended up adding one more petal to the very top curve of each one. That's your choice. So I have 8 different wreaths with 9 petals on each.

Or you can just stick to 8 petals. But that's why I mention either doing 64 or 72. You decide).

I may not touch a glue gun for awhile, but like I said, this project was well worth it. Even my husband loves it. He usually puts a lot of effort into acting like all my projects are his WHOLE WORLD, but this time, I could really tell that he loved it. It made my day.
