So it ALL started with my oldest. He has trouble falling asleep....like 14 times tucking him in and 2 hours later we might have a prayer or hope of him snoozing. (My daughter on the other hand snuggles up, says goodnight, closes her eyes and doesn't open them again).
So where do eye covers come in??? Well I wear them obviously if there's light that might bug me. My husband's late night studying, a hotel window glare etc. And one night my son wanted to try them on for bed.
HE WENT RIGHT. TO. SLEEP.
And has been wearing eye covers ever since.
Trouble is...have you ever tried finding a NON frilly eye cover? They're made for the ladies! So we had to improvise...
Go to the Dollar Store and grab a pair that has an okay color on the back and edging color...
Grab some felt on hand (our angry birds/pig were decided upon by the colors of felt I already had).
And trace the eye covers face down.
(At the dollar store they're not all made equal, so trace EACH ONE).
Cut inside the tracing so that when you lay it on the covers, you can see the edging of the eye covers but not the pattern...
***
Cut out your layers. DON'T GLUE YET.
(I previously made a detailed tutorial on how to make the red bird but those photos got eaten on my card somehow, but it's basically finding a photo online and cutting out felt).
If anything is going to hang off the covers like the beak or ears etc...make sure to double the felt so it's thicker.
Start the glueing process...
Compare your finished product...
Some seriously happy customers.

Well, that's it for the time being except I'm giving one little clue about that stinkin upcoming project...
And NO it's NOT a fort or a play house...any guesses???
Cheerio!

What a cute idea!
My son was just asking me for an angry bird eye cover...crazy timing. Got to get myself over to the Dollar Tree. So brilliant!
Is it a stage set?!?!?! Or something to do puppet plays with?!?!?
YES!
